🐾 Air scenting is when a dog lifts their head and gathers scent particles from the air, rather than from the ground.

This allows them to detect smells carried by the wind and explore their environment from a distance.

When air scenting, dogs can pick up:• scents of other animals or people, even at a distance• information about the direction where the scent is coming from• changes in the environment carried by the wind• traces of recent activity in the area

You may notice subtle changes in posture — a raised head, stillness, focused attention, or small movements of the nose as the dog processes information.
