Stop brining options, bring a point of view.
Stop bringing options.
Bring a point of view.
Early in my career, I thought my job was to present every possible option.
Comprehensive. Thorough. Neutral.
Until a senior leader told me:
“I don’t need more options. I need to know what you would do.”
I was confused.
Why would you care what I would do? I’m the most junior person in the room.
Now I understand.
They were asking for judgment that only I had.
You’re closer to the work than they are.
You’ve sifted through the raw data.
You see the nuances.
The question is:
Are you willing to step forward and share your thinking?
Not just the options.
Not just the analysis.
But your recommendation, backed by your logic path (if they want that, too).
Here’s what I recommend. Here’s why.
When you lead this way, something shifts.
Your ideas travel even when you don’t.
Decisions reflect your thinking in rooms you’re not in.
And eventually, you get pulled in earlier—because your perspective is trusted.
That’s how influence scales.
In this episode, I break down the fastest way leaders build trust in new roles—and how to move from “good worker” to “trusted thinker.”

Because leadership isn’t about presenting everything.
It’s about standing for something.
