Tips and Tricks for Successful BOD Analysis
Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) is a critical analysis for evaluating non-potable water and in particular for effluents released into the aquatic environment due to the impact of changes in dissolved oxygen on ecosystems.
BOD analysis at first glance appears to be a straightforward procedure measuring the change in dissolved oxygen from the start of the analysis to the end following incubation for a period of usually 5 days (BOD5). However, there are many variables in this procedure that can have a large impact on the reliability of results including the seed used, incubation conditions and dissolved oxygen analysis.
This presentation will discuss potential sources of error in BOD testing and tips & tricks for improving the reliability of test results.
Who should attend:
Laboratory Quality Managers
Laboratory Supervisors
Analysts performing BOD analysis
