The lake is 11.8 meters deep, covers an area of 0.469 square kilometers, and is situated 1.4 meters above sea level. At the northern end of Insjön, you'll find the former estate of Velamsund and a bathing area. The entire lake is part of the Velamsunds Nature Reserve.
