What is fascism - part 1

Part 1
I happen to know what fascism is, do you? Most people just use the term, but if you have read about the history of fascism then you can say with complete certainty that Donald Trump is.

In this video I’ll use concepts and notes from these three book:

​​⁠​⁠Roger Griffin, a professor of modern history at Oxford Brookes and one of the leading scholars on fascism. In his book Fascism, Key Concepts in Political Theory, he defines fascism as:

“Palingenetic Ultranationalism”: Palingenetic is perceived national decline; leads to a myth of national rebirth. Ultranationalism is an extreme nationalism; a belief the nation is supreme, often racially and culturally.

Ultimately, an authoritarian, revolutionary form of extreme nationalism (complete devotion to the nation, believing in its superiority) that often incorporates racism, xenophobia, male chauvinism and the culture of violence.

In his book How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them, Stanley’s foundational point is that there are core distinct strategies that fascist politics use.19 He explains them:
The Mythic Past
Propaganda
Anti-Intellectualism
Unreality
Hierarchy
Victimhood
Law and Order

The fascist appeals to emotions and this is done because the ideology rests not upon the truth of its doctrine but upon the leader’s mystical union with the historic destiny of his people. The main emotion is hatred: This hatred is a core developed emotion that helps the leader mobilize a mass movement; a movement with the belief that the national culture needs to be regenerated, unified, and purified.
