A Cannon So Big It Took 60 Oxen to Move — And It Ended 1,000 Years of History 💣 #history #viral

The walls of Constantinople had stopped
every army for over 1,000 years.

Arab sieges. Viking attacks.
Crusader armies. All of them failed.

The walls were simply too thick,
too tall, too well designed.

Then a Hungarian engineer named Urban
had an idea.

He went to the Byzantines first
and offered to build them a cannon
unlike anything ever made.

They couldn't afford him.

He went to Sultan Mehmed II instead.
Mehmed paid him everything he asked for.

The cannon Urban built was over
26 feet long. It fired a stone ball
weighing half a ton. It took
60 oxen and 200 men just to move it.

When it was test-fired the sound
was heard from miles away.

The walls that had never fallen
started falling. 💣

Urban was killed when one of his
own cannons exploded mid-siege.

He never saw what he had built
finish the job.
