ACL injuries reaching epidemic levels in women's sport, experts call for more research | ABC News
Australia is leading the world when it comes to anterior cruciate ligament knee injuries. Experts say the rate of ACL injuries is reaching epidemic levels in domestic female football, with one ACL injury per round in the NRLW and AFLW.
ABC Sport spoke to Dr Jobe Shatrov who performed surgery to repair Matildas star Ellie Carpenter’s ACL, and female footballers who are speaking out in the hope more will be done by the major codes.
