Choral Music of the Sea by Herbert Howells

Based on a Scottish ballad dating back to medieval times and collected by Boston-born American scholar Francis James Child (1825-1896), the British composer of English, Welsh and Scottish heritage, Herbert Howells (1892-1983), composed "Sir Patrick Spens" for baritone, chorus, and orchestra in 1917 when he was only 25.

(Howells is a Welsh/Cymreig surname.)

David Hill directs baritone Roderick Williams, tenor James Gilchrist, The Bach Choir, and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in a performance of "Sir Patrick Spens" by Herbert Howells.
