Local Farmers, Local Fish: Aquaponics

Take this short tour of Kountry Fresh’s greenhouse at Koss Family Farms to see and hear how Steve Koss and Mindy Romano are using an aquaponics system to raise tilapia and grow lettuce. Koss Family Farms, located in Heath, Illinois, is the third stop Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant (IISG) staff made on our quest to find farmers throughout the Midwest raising animals and or growing plants in water. Join IISG staff as we take a dive deeply into water farming, also known as aquaculture, to learn what farmers are raising, how they farm, and the types of products they sell.
