Today, in this is the 6th Edition so we will see together how to say the date in French. If you missed the previous videos, go and check out. I am creating a series of videos, to give French learners the basics in French.

So, let's start.

-Structure of the date

First, day of the week, then we will say the number and then the month.

Let's take an example: Lundi 4 mars, very good
For the year 2021: deux mille vingt et un

-More examples

Vendredi 6 juillet
The day - the number – the month – the year

There is a little difference for the first. In English, we say the first, the second, the third. And then, it is the fourth, the fifth..

But in French we will just say the first and then, 2, 3, 4...

So for example: lundi premier mai deux mille vingt et un

But we will say: mardi deux mai deux mille vingt et un
So it is only for the first that we will say “premier”. Excellent!

Let's say it is: Thursday the 26th of June
Jeudi vingt-six juin deux mille vingt et un

So now you can say the date in French.
