Scott Stornetta: Blockchain Pioneer on Deepfakes and Digital Identity

Dr. W. Scott Stornetta - widely recognized as the co-inventor of blockchain technology and CEO of SureMark Digital - joins Ron Geffner and John D’Agostino to discuss one of the most consequential challenges of the AI era: the collapse of digital trust.

Stornetta’s foundational research with Stuart Haber in 1991 at Bell Labs laid the groundwork for what the world now calls blockchain. Three of the eight citations in Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin white paper reference Stornetta and Haber’s work. Today, he is applying those same principles to a new problem: verifying identity and authorship in a world of AI-generated deepfakes.
