My thought process when I started out creating this VM was that I wanted to show light at the end of the tunnel. Right now we’re riding the heartbreak as Can finds out Sanem has been lying to him from the start and he is crushed because for him, lying is something he never tolerates. But here’s the thing... we are all here, on this earth to learn life lessons. You get up every day and it may seem like today is just another day but every experience you have in life, be it big or small, is a lesson and its shaping you as you go through life. Your aim is to understand and recognise what comes in your path and you then have to ask yourself why?

For Can, he needs to figure out why he fell in love with a girl that has been lying to him almost from the day they met. She has in fact grown up learning to tell little white lies to her parents so that she can be free to be herself. Her parents are very interfering so she has adapted in this manner in order to deal with their interfering. Can on the other hand hates lies but he will walk this journey until be realises that the reason Sanem came into his life is because his rigid ideals about being 100% truthful in life need to fall. Good people in general don’t intend to lie, however it’s something that is hard to avoid completely for the whole duration of your life.

The Japanese say you have three faces. The first face, you show to the world. The second face, you show to your close friends, and your family. The third face, you never show anyone.
This is exactly the way we tend to live. You have thoughts and mannerisms that you may never ever share with anyone for your entire life and it is a form of lying about yourself in a way.

So for me, this is Can’s biggest test and life lesson. What do you do when the first woman you have ever loved with all your soul, betrays you. How do you move on from that? Can must learn and understand that his idealistic approach to Sanem being pure is crazy and he needs to accept that human beings make mistakes.

This is how I picked the latest song for my VM. I wanted to highlight what awaits Can and Sanem in the future and how he will come to realise that he cannot live without her. The lyrics are so powerful, ‘What about now? What about today? What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?’
