Our review begins by showing what you get when you buy a Shark ZU632 and we discuss the tools and documentation.

The handle is comfortable and it has hard floor, low pile carpet and deep pile carpet settings. The handle also has the on/off power button. All controls are conveniently accessible with your thumb.

Both vacuums have the powered lift away feature which allows you to carry the motor/dust-canister assembly in one hand while using the hose, handle and a tool in the other hand. It provides something similar to handheld vacuum cleaning. Note that the ZU632 and the NV752 both have powered lift away which means you can run a power tool (with a motor) at the end of the handle or wand. Some Shark uprights have non-powered lift away – no power at the end of the handle or wand.

The vacuums can operate in three popular configurations. 1 – as an upright, 2 – with the lift away pod in one hand (great for getting under low furniture), 3 – as a handheld (lift away pod in one hand and hose/handle/tool in the other hand).

The hoses on both vacuums are rather short – stretches out to 4.5-6 ft before pulling the vacuum over. A short hose is ok when using the lift away feature though.

Detaching, emptying and reattaching the dust canister is very easy. The system works well and the canisters are large enough that you should not find yourself having to do frequent emptying.

Each vacuum has 3 filters (2 pre-motor and one post-motor). All filters are rinsable in water. The post motor filter is a HEPA filter. They are all easy to access and maintain. Also, the vacuums have a sealed system.

The ZU632 and the NV752 both have headlights.

The ZU632 power cord is 25 ft long which is a bit short. The NV752 has a 30 ft power cord.

The cleaner heads of both vacuums are very different. The ZU632 has Zero-M Technology which helps to strip hair/thread/string off the brushroll as you vacuum. The NV752 has a traditional cleaner head and brushroll with no Zero-M technology.

While the handles are very similar they are not identical. The NV752 has a spotlight on the handle that turns on when the handle or wand is released. There is no spotlight on the ZU632 handle.

The NV752 comes with one more tool than the ZU632. You should get a mini motorized tool or a turbo tool (with the NV752). It is unclear which tool will be provided and we recommend discussing with the retailer to be sure.

We highlight that the ZU632 brushroll continues to spin when it is in hard floor mode (although it spins slower than in carpet mode). The NV752 brushroll is OFF in hard floor mode.

The vacuums have different weights. The NV752 weighs 16.7 lbs and the ZU632 weighs 16.2 lbs. So the ZU632 is a half pound lighter.

We performed a noise level test (with a digital noise level meter that measures noise in decibels) and found that the ZU632 is the louder of the two (a more high pitched whine).

Movement of both vacuums on a hard floor is about the same but on carpet we found the NV752 easier to move and maneuver.

We also performed a host of cleaning tests. We laid down a carefully weighed amount of debris (which we created ourselves) on both carpet and hard flooring and ran each vacuum over the debris in about a 10 second pass. The weight of debris picked up was determined and compared to the original weight of the debris. In this way % pickup for each vacuum was determined. We show results in tables and discuss.

We ran a test using pet hair and human hair. The Zero-M cleaner head on the ZU632 was much more effective at keeping hair-free than the more traditional cleaner head on the NV752. Actual pet hair pickup was very good for both machines.

An edge cleaning tests showed that edge cleaning for both vacuums was about the same and, in our opinion, quite good.

At the end of the video we highlight which vacuum is best for different cleaning scenarios.
