For you to succeed in a business like this in today's world, you'll need millions of stock images but Jon didn't have that.
As an amateur photographer, all he had on his hard drive was 30,000 images and that was what he started with.
Jon Oringher uploaded his 30,000 images to Shutterstock.
Several months after starting, Shutterstock figured out that they could hire additional contributors and that is what they did.
Today, Shutterstock has more than 350 million royalty-free stock photos, vector graphics, and illustrations and it's one of the most successful companies in the world with an estimated net worth of $3 Billion.
