Hi, I'm Dylan Stevenson - I'm a runner with a background in sport science and have experience in the footwear industry.

In this video I discuss some of the proposed mechanisms behind how "super shoes" work and how the carbon fiber plate contributes to its performance. Bare in mind that most research done on these shoes are conducted on elite athletes, thus the effect on the general population who have longer ground conduct time and less forward momentum, may vary.

As mentioned during the video conclusion, the effect a shoe has on foot depends on the individualised effect that the shoe has on the specific athlete. Like many things, there can be negative responders, non-responders, responders and strong responders.
