Rob Kaman "Mr. Low Kick" Knockouts & Highlights [Muaythai/Kickboxing]
Muay Thai and kickboxing highlight of The Dutchman, Rob Kaman, AKA "Mr. Low Kick".
Rob Kaman is a former professional Dutch kickboxer and Muay Thai fighter from Amsterdam who fought during the 1980s and 1990s. He won 9 world titles in several different Muay Thai and kickboxing promotions, and was often referred to as "Mr. Low Kick" due to his immense kicking power which led to him securing many wins via low kick KO.
Having played youth football at Ajax, Rob decided that team sports weren't something he wanted to pursue, and began training in several different martial arts and combat sports at age 16 including Pentjak Silat, kickboxing and Muay Thai. Kaman turned pro in Holland in 1980 (aged 20) and began fighting in Thailand a few years later, securing wins against some of Thailand's top fighters including Payap Premchai, Changpuek Kiatsongrit, Samart Prasarnmit, Dennoi, Lakchart Sor Prasartporn, Sittisak, Hansu Premchai and Bunshima Roong. In an interview with Siam Fight Mag, Kaman stated that his encounters with Changpuek were the toughest of all, winning once out of their 4 contests. The main obstacle that prevented Kaman from competing in Thailand more often was his fighting weight of 80kg which was far heavier than the most competitive Thai weight classes.
Outside of Thailand, Kaman was almost untouchable in his prime and defeated a host of great foreign kickboxers and Muay Thai fighters including Ernesto Hoost, Blinky Rodriquez, John Moncayo, Ernest Simmons, Jean-Yves Thériault, Rick van der Vathorst, Jerome Turcan, Rick van der Vathorst and Adam Watt. He ended his career in 1999 with 98 wins, 12 losses, 1 draw and 2 NC. Seventy-seven of his wins came by way of KO/TKO (69% KO percentage).
