CATL Offers Insane Fast Charging, Long Range, & Battery Swap Options

I spent the day at the Beijing Auto Show at CATL’s booth, diving into three very different battery approaches: ultra-fast charging, battery swapping, and high energy density for long range.
The headline moment was CATL’s Shenxing Generation 3 LFP pack, which claims a 10–80% charge in about 3 minutes 40 seconds. In just one minute, you can reach roughly 30%, and a full charge takes around 6 minutes. It’s also designed to operate in extreme cold down to -30°C, with only about 3 extra minutes needed, and features reduced cell resistance of approximately 0.25 mΩ.
I got a close look at the pack, spoke with systems engineer Jerry, and asked the tough questions—covering cycle life, dendrite risks, and packaging trade-offs.
