Tree Fort Hardware: Dynamic Uplift Arrestor (DUA) Installation

This is the 8th video in a series hosted by Treehouse Master, Pete Nelson, on how to build a safe treehouse platform using our Tree Fort Hardware System. In this video, Pete and his son, Charlie, install a Dynamic Uplift Arrestor (DUA). This dynamic connection allows the trees to move with the wind and is critical to building a safe treehouse platform.

The Tree Fort Dynamic Uplift Arrestor (DUA) fastens a Tree Fort TAB to the bottom of a beam but allows the tree to move independently from the platform. An ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW) slab provides a surface for the Tree Fort TAB to slide freely. This allows for the Tree Fort to move naturally with the tree.

Our Tree Fort Hardware System (referred to as "Backyard Hardware" in this video series) is a simplified and more economical version of the standard & heavy duty treehouse hardware we use in larger builds. This Tree Fort Hardware System is designed for small scale builds, think: kid-scale tree forts, sunset decks or tree gazebos.
