Bringing the Olympic Games to Sydney 'no straightforward journey': Jones
Sky News host Alan Jones says Rod McGeoch is the "man who won the bid for us" as the two recount Sydney's successful bid for the 2000 Olympic Games and the spectacle of the event on what is the 20 year anniversary of its opening ceremony.
Rod McGeoch AO was the chief executive of Sydney's successful 2000 Olympic Games bid.
"We can't forget today that bringing the Games to Sydney was no straightforward journey," Mr Jones said.
The final vote was 45 to 43, with Sydney being victorious over Beijing.
Mr McGeoch also discussed the chances of Queensland to host an upcoming Olympic Games, saying the state was "absolutely" a chance.
