Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Surgery, known as a Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), is a surgical procedure, with the goal of expanding the airflow space of the throat. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is an advanced sleep disorder where a partial or complete interruption of airflow can lead to serious health conditions and behavioural disorders. Sleep-disordered breathing is characterized by snoring, episodes of cessation of breathing often accompanied by sudden awakening from sleep, and excessive daily fatigue and drowsiness.

You might be a good candidate for OSA Surgery if you are experiencing 3 or more of the following symptoms:

- Sleepiness and tiredness even after a good amount of sleep
- Common headaches and memory problems
- Waking up with irritated throat
- Loud snoring
- You were told that your breathing stops periodically during sleep
- You wake up with short breath
- You have problems controlling urination during sleep
- You have frequent nightmares
- You have high blood pressure, although you are in shape
- CPAP machine wasn’t effective, or you don’t want to wear it
