How to Use Dual SIM iPhone 14 Pro: Max: Plus eSIM With SIM Tray

The iPhone 14 Pro Max supports dual SIM functionality, allowing you to use both a physical SIM and an eSIM at the same time. This feature is especially useful for people who want to keep work and personal numbers on one device, use local data plans while traveling, or manage multiple carrier services more efficiently. The process involves inserting a physical nano SIM and activating an eSIM, followed by configuring how each line will function on your phone.

Start by using a SIM ejector tool or paperclip to open the SIM tray on the side of your iPhone. Insert your nano SIM into the tray and push it back in. Once the physical SIM is in place, go to Settings Cellular Add Cellular Plan to activate your eSIM. Your carrier will provide a QR code or activation details—follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

After both SIMs are activated, your iPhone will prompt you to label them (e.g., Personal and Business) to help manage their use. You can then choose which line to use for cellular data, voice calls, and text messages. For example, you might prefer to use your work number for calls and your personal number for mobile data.

You can also set which SIM will be used for iMessage and FaceTime. This setting can be changed at any time by going to Settings Messages and Settings FaceTime. If you want to use mobile data while you're on a call on the voice-only line, make sure to enable the 'Allow Cellular Data Switching' feature under Settings Cellular.

To switch between lines for calls and messages on the fly, navigate back to Settings Cellular and select the desired line for specific functions. This setup gives you full control over how each number operates on your iPhone.
