05 Historical Analogies Renaissance and Pointillism

Today we compare two eras that are, like others, separated by centuries, but are brought together by many minute similarities. The particularity of these two eras is their obsession with science and the scientific method, specifically in the field of sight, optics, and the functioning of the human eye. This is a clear continuation of the previous lecture, thematically, stylistically and historically. We observe the renaissance style coming after/during Gothic in a similar manner how pointillism comes after/during impressionism.
