BUCK SHOT NEXT TO TRUCK | Nebraska Mule deer bowhunting

Travis and I head to Nebraska in early October for our extensive out west hunting extravaganza. On the way, we had planned to stop in Iowa and grab SD cards from trail cameras that have been sitting since summer on my lease. Due to recent rain, B-class roads were impassable, resulting us getting stuck at 11:30 at night. Luckily, a gracious farmer pulled us out with his tractor.

Once in Nebraska, we had permission from a farmer to hunt his farm and stay in his barn. We had quick success the first night and saw tons of deer. The second day was a grind and only saw deer the first hour of light. The third day we had a miracle buck run at me and give me a 40 yard shot. He was alert and facing me, which was not ideal, but it was a now or never shot. Once the bow went off, he turned resulting in the arrow hitting farther back than I wanted. Although it was a lethal shot and the deer would have expired, we followed him and I put a second arrow in him.

What an awesome way to notch a tag on my first mule deer buck. Huge thanks to my good buddy Travis Johnson for sticking it out with me and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
