CARIBOU: Flexible Care for Youth with Depression

Young people may find seeking treatment for depression overwhelming with all the information that's thrown their way. Youth who reach out and access treatment have a better chance of getting better and staying well—so it’s important to find ways to make information easy to digest and to use steps that have the best chance of working. The Care for Adolescents who Receive Information ‘Bout OUtcomes (CARIBOU) integrated care pathway is evidence-based and structured, so all the steps are laid out and young people get an idea of what the whole picture looks like. The pathway has been implemented at CAMH and will be implemented in community settings as part of a clinical trial. This video provides an overview of the CARIBOU pathway and is meant for youth, their family members and health care providers.

This resource was created by young people and mental health professionals and was developed by the Cundill Centre for Child and Youth Depression and the Youth Engagement Initiative, supported by the Margaret and Wallace McCain Centre for Child, Youth & Family Mental Health and the Child, Youth and Emerging Adult Program at CAMH.
