2006 Daytona Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Championship Round 10 (SX Lites East Round 4) Part 1

This is part 1 of round 10 of the 2006 Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Championship and round 4 of the 2006 Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Lites East Championship from Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, FL.

Returning contenders like Supercross sophomore James Stewart, 2004 champ Chad Reed, Kevin Windham, Supercross rookie Ivan Tedesco, Ernesto Fonseca, Mike LaRocco, David Vuillemin, and defending champ Ricky Carmichael battle it out for the 2006 Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Championship. This race is well known for Travis Pastrana backflipping the FINISH jump during day-qualifying, and for James Stewart's violent wreck in the main. The Supercross community (and Team Honda) loses a well-loved competitor in Ernesto Fonseca #10 due to a bad crash at the Honda Test Track, which marks the unexpected end of Ernesto's career. Team Kawasaki's Michael Byrne earns his first podium of the 2006 season, which would later turn out to be the last podium of Byrne's career.

Returning East Lites contenders like Davi Millsaps, 2005 runner-up Josh Hansen, Josh Grant, Tommy Hahn, Steve Boniface, 2003 champ Branden Jesseman, and Chris Gosselaar battle it out for the 2006 Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Lites East Championship. After a disappointing season under the Motoworld Suzuki team, Christopher Gosselaar lands a ride with the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team after Troy Adams went down with a femur injury. 2000 125cc East champ Stephane Roncada makes a comeback with the Motoworld Yamaha team after a drug problem which cost him his Pro Circuit Kawasaki ride. Defending Daytona Lites winner Josh Hansen pulls out of this race and the series due to the herniated disk in his neck.
