About Big Love Indian Hair

The main idea behind BigLove was to provide easy employment to rural Indian women and thereby empower them. 99% of our workforce are women.

Rural India is plagued by extremely low income and to make matters worse, most men are heavy alcoholics who need booze to function right from the minute they wake till when they eventually conk off at night. The government taxes alcohol very heavily, justifying it by saying the more expensive a bottle is, the lesser people will drink. But in reality, they just spend more money. Booze is really the main money generator for the government, with some states seeing over 25% of their entire revenue come from Alcohol taxes.

This puts immense stress on a woman in rural India, for the husbands spend 80-100% of what they earn on booze.

The woman therefore, has to feed the family, clothe them, pay for children's education, etc.. they are really the sole breadwinner of a family.

The only employment that women have in rural India is usually hard manual labour in construction sites, or hard work in fields the whole day long. It can get very sunny here in India, with temperature staying in between 115 F to 120+ F

And they earn lesser than men, for the argument is that since it's physical work, women are weaker than men, and therefore output of work is less.

So we started BigLove Indian hair - as almost fit perfectly what we wanted to focus on - Women empowerment through easy and well paying employment - and the end result is also that a woman who uses the products is empowered by beauty and confidence.

And, in between, all the hair we source is 100% ethically sourced from temples in South India. We take it a step further by carefully selecting temples that make sure all the money they earn is ploughed back in to the community.

The temples we work with contribute a whole lot to society, by feeding 1000's of people everyday for free, running very good hospitals, schools, colleges for free again for the needy and so on.
