Now when I asked, nearly all of you said HD sells motorcycles…Well they don’t…paraphrasing from the Tom Peters Book, Re-Imagine, a HD executive says…
What we sell is the ability for 43-year-old accountants to dress up in black leather, ride thru towns and have people be afraid of them.”
What’s that saying? They sell a life-style, an experience, a dream…an emotional connection…. They have de-commoditized themselves from their competition. They’ve created a true point of differentiation for themselves Vs their competition.
That’s what you need to do, for yourself, and/or your business…create that POD differentiation for yourself, your product, service, and company.
