When he died in 2016, aged 93, Peres was a beloved older statesman and something of a worldwide celebrity.
But there was far more to Peres than the adored status of his later years.

He wasn’t always the popular man of the people - he wasn’t always popular - and as he proved, the path to peace doesn’t always run smoothly (or even at all), but that doesn’t mean he ever stopped trying.
