Strong Late Season Albany Severe Storm Line. Tree Damage and A Lot of Wind! - October 7, 2020

So this is one of the more uncommon things and more on the rare side of things you will see in Upstate NY.....a heavy storm line for October that actually manages to stay severe through the Catskills and does a ton of tree damage around the Capital Region. Models and SPC were picking up on something to push through Upstate NY but I never expected something like this until the radar began showing what it was showing. What is weird is this was mostly a storm line that was riding the cold front which was producing a ton of instability despite the mid-60s temps and low-mid 50s for dew points. Just a lot more forcing kept this line strong and healthy across NY as it pushed through.
So I kept and eye on this line began forming behind a huge rain batch was got around noon and this was just setting up by Lake Erie around 2pm but it was HAULING ASS across NY State so that by 3pm I saw it was go time so I grabbed my camera and headed out to Holy Names and set up shop. This was a very interesting storm line where it was one of those rare lines with no shelf cloud and very compact within the line with how strong the winds were. Been a while since I seen a line like that come through. There was some nice lightning with the line too.
After the line passed by I went and checked out some damage of trees and stuff around the area. Pretty wide tree damage swath across the Capital Region with embedded strong section in-between areas. Albany INTL Airport registered a 62 MPH wind so yeah this was a strong line for this time of year....ESPECIALLY this time of year. I think this is the last severe storm likely for 2020 so if so what a wild storm year it was. Now begins winter filming. :D
