Overcoming Pain, Blame & Shame | Anne Beiler | TEDxWillowCreek
Anne Beiler has discovered a new view of confession that is rooted in grace, not guilt. Freedom, not fear. In her debut TEDx talk, Anne speaks about the power that comes from breaking our silence, sharing our past with one another, and living a lifestyle of confession. Throughout this inspiring and engaging talk, Anne shares candidly and authentically about her own past, which is tainted with the loss of a child, sexual abuse, and many years of pain, blame, and shame. It was only when she began opening up about her secrets that she found freedom, forgiveness, and a purpose greater than herself.
"Auntie" Anne is best known as the founder of Auntie Annes Hand Rolled Soft Pretzels, now in over 48 states and 25 countries. She also founded Broken Silence, which provides events and resources that empower women to share their stories. Anne Beiler began twisting pretzel in 1987 and grew a single farmer’s market stand into Auntie Anne’s Inc., the world’s largest hand rolled, soft pretzel franchise. Her professional success, however, was forged after years of darkness, depression, and despair brought on by the death of her nineteen-month-old daughter. Anne’s personal story and entrepreneurial insights have been featured on many television shows including Secret Millionaire, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and Good Morning America. She has been highlighted in numerous publications such as Fortune Magazine, and Inc. Magazine.
In 2005, Anne sold Auntie Anne’s and authored the business memoir, Twist of Faith. Today, she shares her inspirational message with audiences around the world and is launching a new organization, Broken Silence, with a mission to help women find their voice and break free from the secrets that keep them stuck in pain, blame and shame. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
