About the tool : Comprehension of COBOL is getting increasingly difficult these days. Yet, COBOL still under use in large number of software systems like ATMs. Mainframes which are powered by COBOL are still being used by 71% of Fortune 500 companies. But the number of COBOL developers are declining drastically. One of the main reason for this is less number of resources available for COBOL. This makes comprehension and maintainence of COBOL code difficult.
Here comes our tool, which helps developers to extend and maintain existing COBOL systems using their knowledge in Java. This would immensely help in the maintenance of COBOL code. The reason for choosing Java is the wide range of resources available and the vast community support. Java is one of the most popular programming languages among the developers community.

- User will be able to write the Java code and generate the equivalent COBOL code.
- User will be able to upload a Java file and then generate the equivalent COBOL code.
- User will be able to download or copy the generated COBOL code.
- The tool is published as a VSCode extension in the VSCode market place. The name of the extension : java-to-cobol-convertor

The extension takes the opened Java code as input and generates the COBOL code and open it automatically.
