ஆணவம் கொண்ட பிரம்ம தேவரின் தலையை சிவன் கில்லி எறிந்தார். இதனால் போகும் கொண்ட பிரம்மதேவன், கிள்ளிய தலை உன் கையிலே ஒட்டி கொள்ளட்டும். உனக்கு வழங்கும் உணவை அந்த தலையே சாப்பிட்டுவிடும்.நீ பித்தலாக அலைய கடவாய் என்று சாபமிட்டார். பின்பு பார்வதி தேவி இதிலிருந்து விடுபட உபாயம் கூறுங்கள் என்று நாராயனிடம் முறையிட்டார் . நாராயணன் சிவபெருமான் சுடுகாட்டுக்கு வரும் வழியில் நவ தானியங்களால் செய்யப்பட்ட சுண்டல் கொழுக்கட்டை ஆகிய மூன்றையும், அந்த கபாலத்திற்கு பிச்சை போடு அவை இரண்டு முறை அந்த கபாலம் தின்றுவிடும். மூன்றாவது முறை அந்த கபாலத்தில் போடுவதைப் போல் பாவனையை செய்து கீழே இழைத்து விடு. அதில் சுவையில் மயங்கிய கபாலம் கீழே விழுந்தது. சிவனிடத்தில் ஒட்டிக்கொள்ள கபாலம் சென்றதால், கோபம் கொண்ட பார்வதி தேவி அங்காள பரமேஸ்வரி ரூபம் எடுத்து தன் காலால் கபாலத்தை மிதித்தார். இதனால் சிவனுக்கு பிரம்மஹத்தி தோஷமும் நீங்கியது .
