비행 하는 동안 빠짐없이 썼던 내 비행일지를 보면 1993년 3월 27일 KE026편으로 뉴욕 케네디 공항에 처음 갔다고 되어 있으니 오늘부터 꼭 30년 전의 일이다.

그날 비행은 내가 B747-400(HL7479)의 부기장 자격을 받기 위한 훈련 비행 두 번째 임무였고, ‘VOR Runway 13L로 착륙.’이라고 기록되어 있다.

오늘 2023년 3월 27일에 공개한 이 영상은 내가 서울 인천공항을 출발해서 뉴욕 케네디 공항까지 가는 여객기의 지휘 기장(PIC) 자격으로 마지막 비행을 한 것이다.

이 날 항공기는 B747-8i(HL7631)였고, 부기장은 그날 뉴욕을 처음 가는 것이라고 했다.

나는 30년을 이어온 뉴욕과의 인연을 소중하게 생각한다.
이 것은 단순히 그 곳에 자주 갔기 때문에 '정'이 들었다는 것과는 다른 의미가 있다.
뉴욕 맨하튼,
나에게는 제 2의 고향이다.

이 영상에서 보는 것처럼, 이 날 비행을 끝으로 이제부터는 뉴욕은 승객 자격으로 다녀야 한다.

그래도 지금까지 누려온 모든 혜택에 깊은 감사를 드린다.

그러한 의미로 제목 앞에 회상(memory)이라는 단어를 붙였다.
그리고 최초 공개 일을 30주년이 된 2023년 3월 27일로 정했다.

According to my flight log, I first went to New York Kennedy Airport on flight KE026 on March 27, 1993, so it was exactly 30 years ago.

The flight that day was the second training session for me to qualify as first officer on a B747-400 (HL7479), and it was recorded as 'landed on VOR Runway 13L'.

This video is my last flight as the pilot in command(PIC) from Incheon Airport, Seoul to Kennedy Airport, New York.
It was a B747-8i (HL7631) aircraft, and the first officer said it was the first time he was going to New York that day.

I cherish my 30-year relationship with Manhattan, New York.
This doesn't mean that it's just because I went there often.
Manhattan, New York is my second hometown.

As you can see in this video, after this day's flight as the pilot in command, I have to travel for there as a passenger from now on.

Still, I am deeply grateful for all the benefits I have enjoyed so far.

In that sense, the word "memory" was added in front of the title.
