Ep. 55: Varnish - Preparing the oil
Dear Friends,
My varnish secrets might not be so interesting for most musicians but I believe it might be good for you to know what stands behind a great superb instrument coming from my workshop. Invest a few minutes and you have another small part of the entire picture of what it takes. 😉
Today I would like to be already in my garden cooking my amber varnish with you....; but there are still two more videos you should see.
This one is the first one.
It´s about cleaning your oil from the water solubile glicerine. No matter what oil you have, you will be on the very safe side and your top secret oil varnish will work ("dry") and polymerize. Polimerize is the correct word when your oil varnish is"drying". It stands for the cymical process when unsaturated fatty acid ( and that's why you could use also olive or sunflower oil) are going though a chimical process with help of oxygen and UV light to create new chemical compounds.
Enjoy!
greetings from Cremona
Edgar
