Before gods, there were prisons. The Old Ones could not be killed—so the ancients sealed them inside the oldest trees. Wood became cage. Roots became chains.

Centuries passed. The seals held. Until the cult found the grove.

They wore borrowed skin, hollow men prepared by whispers. They poured blood at the roots. Spoke a language older than soil. Then came the flame.

The tree did not burn—it screamed. Bark split open, revealing a void where rings should be. And from that wound, something crawled out. Ancient. Released.

The cult knelt. Their god had returned.

The tree still stands. But now its core is empty. Press your ear to the hollow and you hear nothing but wind passing through an open cage.
