Cumberland Island

Georgia's largest barrier island among the Golden Isles. The history of this place goes back to the indigenous peoples who settled there as early as 4,000 years ago & has a role in most every era of American history. There are White-tailed deer, squirrels, Raccoons, Nine-banded Armadillos, Wild Boars, American Alligators, as well as many marshland inhabitants. It is also famous for its feral horses roaming free on the island. Overnight and week-long camping are permitted.
