Places in this video:

Piazza San Marco: Piazza San Marco is located in Florence’s historic centre and stands out for its square shape lined with elegant buildings. On the northern side of the piazza is the Church of San Marco and a wing of the historic Dominican convent, which was enlarged by Cosimo the Elder in 1437 under the direction of Michelozzo. The church was consecrated by cardinal Niccolò d'Acciapaccioon the evening of Epiphany in 1443, with Pope Eugene IV in attendance. Today, the site houses the San Marco Museum, which conserves the richest collection in the world of works by Fra Angelico, who lived in the convent for a period.
At the centre of the piazza is a monument to General Manfredo Fanti, made in bronze by Pio Fedi in 1873. The piazza is surrounded by large buildings, like Palazzina della Livia, attributed to Bernardo Fallani (1780) and currently home to military offices. Opposite, you can find the Accademia delle Belle Arti (Academy of Fine Arts) and a branch of the University of Florence.
Riccardi Medici Palace: The Medici Riccardi Palace, the first purely Renaissance building built in Florence, was commissioned around 1444 to the architect Michelozzo by Cosimo the Elder, patriarch of the Medici family, who wanted it located in via Larga (today via Cavour) near the Church of San Lorenzo.
Topped by a robust cornice, the building’s façade is decorated with elegant mullioned window; the two asymmetrical entranceways lead to a courtyard designed according to Brunelleschian standards and beyond, an Italian-style garden.

Basilica of San Lorenzo: San Lorenzo is one of the most significant Renaissance churches in Florence; the story of its construction witnesses and testifies to the fortunate rise of the Medici family. The basilica stands on the site of one of the oldest churches in Florence which dates to the 4th century and was rebuilt on Romanesque canons in the 11th century. The first project to enlarge the Romanesque church dates to the second decade of the 15th century: it was commissioned from Filippo Brunelleschi by Giovanni de’ Medici, father of Cosimo the Elder and founder of the Medici dynasty.
Baptistery of Saint John: The octagonal Baptistery is decorated in Prato’s typical green and white marble. Geometric motifs cover the eight equal sides of the structure, the luminous exterior later enriched in the 16th century with the addition of statues and bas-reliefs. The three bronze doors are attributed to Andrea Pisano (south door, circa 1330), and Lorenzo Ghiberti, (north door, 1402/25 and east door, 1425/52). The east doors, displaying stories from the Old Testament, open to an
unparalleled view of the Duomo defined by Michelangelo as the “Gates of Paradise.”
Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore: The typical Italian Gothic building, the Cathedral of Florence, is dedicated to "Santa Maria del Fiore". The church was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio (c1245-1302)
who considerably enlarged the existing religious structure. Finished around 1367, the Cathedral was completely covered by coloured marbles like the earlier Baptistery, except for the façade that remained unfinished and was terminated only in the 19th century.

Piazza della Signoria: Piazza della Signoria is located halfway between the Duomo and the River
Arno and represents, together with the Palace of the same name, the heart of Florence political life;
the Square is L-shaped and is the result of different architectural interventions as well as the place
where every day, thousands of tourists meet to visit the Uffizi Gallery, the Fountain of Neptune, the
Loggia della Signoria and that centuries-old Palace of course.
