Tutorial - How to cut and fit a new crown and stem for your SKX

SW Watchmods gives a hobbyist's tutorial on how a new winding crown and stem is cut and fitted. A nice member of the public was struggling to find something similar and I wanted to be helpful :) - Helpful comments and advice welcomed freely!

Info: A 4R36 / NH36 crown and stem combined typically measures 22mm

Because I am paranoid I will initially cut a stem a little longer than I need by 2mm (So crown+stem ~24mm) as a sanity check. It's also just as a design precaution for bulkhead on the SKX case. Whether it's an aftermarket case or OEM, the quality control on the crown bulkhead may be out fractionally so cutting your stem longer on the first pass will give you that comfort zone to try it out.

Then I cut the stem further to fit exactly.

Tools needed:
Straight cutters, fine edge file, pin vice (optional), ruler/calliper, cocktail stick, Loctite 242, TSF 451 crown grease, Seiko S6 lubricant, Rodico, cletops/cotton bud, cleaning alcohol 70%

I do Seiko builds and modifications. Check out my vids and my Instagram page @sw_watchmods. and for all enquiries shingy.wan@gmail.com
