Man and earth find absolutely new manifestation in no time, in an unreservedly beautiful splendor; vividly indicating life’s surging expectations from Universe - man’s utmost inclination for union with the Supreme. In perfect loneliness!

How a solitary artist can communicate celestial loveliness… easily acquaint bliss, can touch you very quietly, peacefully, getting rid of all commotion. No wonder why words might claim the calm meditative concept in all his devoted expressive works.

INCISIVE
INSIGHT

A man of few words, soft spoken, sombre and quiet. Yet he observes everything around with eagle eyes, keeps his antenna up, prefer to reserve his comments on what’s happening. Perhaps it is rather difficult to fathom such a serene person. He would, of course, exchange pleasantries if you met him and in those early salad days of mine, I would steadfastly look at him but with awe…He is Animesh Nandi of our Art fraternity. Subsequently as I got to know him better, I could somewhat comprehend his high standards of strength of character but admittedly within the constraint of my limited capability of assessment. I always felt that I understood him better through his enviable, enlightened artistic creations.

For me, it was quite an indescribable experience when I first came across the full spectrum of Animesh Nandi’s paintings. ‘Indescribable’ because they were completely different from the kind we are familiar with or exposed to; they were with that ‘look good, feel good ‘feature. Undeniably they were created with an ‘X’ factor that just cannot be explained; nay words cannot express them but can only be felt by the heart.

Art is creation that arises out of known, unknown sources, inspiration, experiences. At times, they may appear utterly incongruous, wildly imaginative so much so as hills, water bodies, trees and shrubs, animals and human beings appear as pilgrims reaching out to a destination beyond time and space. To quote Animesh, “There’s a hope, joy, pain and frustration” bereft of any apparent sign of contemporary salience. It is like timeless time attempting to capture the eternal truth blossoming out in a perfect balance in synch with nature. Portraits that are at once dream and reality blended in an incisive unique kaleidoscope in enigmatic perspectives. As Animesh observes : “Let us feel, let us be free, let us probe and explore deeper and deeper”. And the destination is one of magnificent beauty at a higher echelon that has transcended touching thoughts virtually in a sphere of divinity…A kind of transformation that does not have frills but is based on free and liberal thoughts conveyed through conscious execution of the unexpected, acceptable norms of expression.

It is a classic case history, as it were, where the nub of reality is painted in a faraway world of imagination with an underscore of written or unwritten words in absentia that literally sing… a romantic communication that makes Animesh Nandi’s paintings “paintings’, a class by themselves. This is my instinctive impression which I feel sure shall reverberate in the hearts of others as well
