Today’s feature is an artist that represents what happens when timing perfectly meets with talent and seizes an opportunity, but also when time is squandered and that same talent no longer matters. To the masses that has to be how they see an artist like Tiniashe. When she blew up and became a Billboard charting artist with the song “2 On” she caught the DJ Mustard sound at its peak, where his production couldn’t miss and was sure to make a club banger and radio friendly hit song. Tinashe wasn’t able to follow that up with anything close to the impact of that song, whether another hit or moment in time she’s remembered for. As an artist you’re the face of the direction of your career, but whoever’s behind the scenes steering the ship are even more important, and Tinashe’s career is the perfect example. She may not be the best vocalist, best dancer, most attractive or whatever else, but there was a window in time where if steered correctly she could’ve been a bigger artist that held on to a moment in pop music we can call hers. Tinashe had talent no question. She also had opportunity and entertainment pedigree from the beginning, and if marketed correctly I do think there’s room for an artist like Tinashe to have that moment, but has that time passed for Tinashe herself?
