As of last month, we’ve been monetized on YouTube for an entire year. Meaning we’ve been able to earn some sort income and passive income on YouTube for one whole year. And while we’re not earning Graham Stephan or Andrei Jikh money, we did earn a lot more than we were expecting so soon after being monetized on YouTube.

To become monetized, your channel first has to reach 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time within 365 days. This took us a year after uploading our first video. However, after uploading the first few videos on our channel, we didn't post anything for 6 months. Then we decided to take YouTube more seriously and started posting one to two video per week. That's when we saw a huge amount of growth on our channel, and after posting more it only took six more months for us to become monetized.

We started our channel to share our journey becoming debt free and to document our own personal journey to financial freedom. Due to most of the videos on our channel being about money, our CPM is on the higher end of the spectrum.

Our two best performing video have earned close to 40% of our total revenue for the first year we've been monetized.
