The leading cause of death in the United States is heart disease and Latinos are no exception. According to the CDC, 15.8% of Latino deaths every year can be attributed to heart disease and the number of heart disease cases overall is growing in our communities. Understanding the high-risk factors of heart disease among Latinos is crucial to advancing comprehensive care yet significant barriers like poor access to healthcare, environment, inadequate clinical studies, and a lack of culturally competent care can have adverse and tragic consequences to Latino heart health. Hear from health experts as they discuss heart health in Latino communities and the innovative pathways to prevent, detect, and treat heart disease.
