4Chan VS Egypt

In 2010, Hosni Mubarak was one of the most dangerous dictators in the modern world. For years, his regime had been responsible for countless crimes against the people of Egypt, so in desperation, they took to the streets in protest, hoping to take back their country. However, Mubarak fought back, ending the lives of many.

Because of this, 4Chan’s Anonymous became absolutely furious and knew they had to do something to help.

So they launched massive DDoS attacks on government websites, taking down everything from the Egyptian Presidency and Cabinet sites, to the Maritime Transport page, to even the official Parliament portal.

In a panic, Mubarak blocked internet access across the whole region and set a 6 p.m. curfew, hoping to stop Anonymous and put an end to the protests.

But the Egyptian people wouldn’t give up and found their way to the city center. Anonymous then provided care packages, containing instructions on how to bypass the internet block, so that they could upload their protest footage to the world.

The movement got so big that there were protests at Egyptian embassies around the globe, and 4Chan couldn't resist flooding the locations with unpaid pizza orders, adding to the chaos.
