Reichenbachfall, Reichenbach fall Meiringen Switzerland 4K

Reichenbach fall is a very spectacular waterfall located near Meiringen and is very close to the Aareschlucht (Aare Gorge). The waterfall is a 300-metre high cascade and consists of a total of seven waterfalls. The top waterfall is the largest and up to 30 cubic metres of water plunge down the 120 metres.
An old funicular railway takes tourists comfortably up to the spectacular waterfall at the top of the Reichenbach Falls. At the mountain station, a hiking trail begins uphill to above the fall with numerous viewpoints.
The Reichenbach Falls also became famous through Conan Doyle's story in which Sherlock Holmes falls down the waterfall together with his arch-enemy Professor Moriarty after a fierce battle. A memorial plaque commemorates this fictitious event.

Der Reichenbachfall ist ein sehr spektakulärer Wasserfall der sich in der Nähe von Meiringen und der Aareschlucht befindet. Der Wasserfall ist eine 300 Meter hohe Kaskade und besteht aus insgesamt sieben Wasserfällen. Der oberste Wasserfall ist der grösste und bis zu 30 Kubikmeter Wasser stürzen die 120 Meter hohe Felsstufe hinunter.
Eine alte Standseilbahn bringt die Touristen bequem hinauf zu dem spektakulären Wasserfall. An der Bergstation beginnt ein Wanderweg, welcher bis oberhalb des Wasserfalls führt und zahlreiche Aussichtspunkte bietet.
Berühmt wurden die Reichenbachfälle auch durch Conan Doyles Erzählung, in der Sherlock Holmes nach einem heftigen Kampf zusammen mit seinem Erzfeind Professor Moriarty den Wasserfall hinunterstürzt. Eine Gedenktafel erinnert an diese fiktive Begebenheit.
