The Christmas Truce of 1914 – Enemies in No Man’s Land.#shorts #wwi #wwi

When 2 Armies Stopped Firing in 1914 – Then Met in No Man’s Land. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 1914, along the Western Front from the Ypres Salient to sectors in Artois, British and German troops halted fire, exchanged songs and small gifts, buried their dead, and, in a few places, even kicked a ball on the frozen ground. The truce was not universal and ended within days under orders from high command, never to be repeated. This account draws on soldiers’ letters, unit war diaries, and contemporary press reports, with archival photographs from museum collections. Subscribe for more forgotten WWI stories.
