The snooker triangle is designed for consistent and accurate placement of the red snooker balls without skew prior to the start of every frame. That's why referees use them.

This is done by making sure that the pack of red balls are centred behind the pink ball and the row of five red balls at the back of the pack are parallel with the top cushion.

This in turn means that the any player can be confident that their break off can also be consistent and accurate.

The snooker triangle in this video was designed in Sheffield, home of the World Snooker Championship, specifically to bring the snooker triangle into the 21st century. Design cues were taken from the sport and Jan Verhaas one of the world's most respected snooker referees used a Beck snooker triangle at the World Snooker Championship. His input was invaluable.
