James Tanis - The Bougainville Peace Process
James Tanis was President of Autonomous Region of Bougainville from 2009 to 2010. He joined the Bougainville Revolutionary Army in 1988, serving as a senior commander before playing a crucial role in peace negotiations with the central Papua New Guinea government. He was Vice President of Bougainville People's Congress in 2001 and Minister for Peace in 2004. Mr Tanis is now a volunteer peace-builder assisting the current President.
