The 2023 Truth & Liberty Awards Banquet Fundraiser

Standing for truth requires courage, strength, and dedication to God and country.

As part of our ongoing mission to equip, mobilize, and unify the body of Christ to change nations, the Truth & Liberty Coalition is honoring two outstanding individuals for their work to stand for freedom and biblical truth in the public square.

On Friday, May 5, at Charis Bible College in Woodland Park, Colorado, Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel and Jack Phillips of Masterpiece Cakeshop will receive the inaugural Truth & Liberty Coalition Awards. These individuals will be honored at a gala awards banquet, hosted by Andrew Wommack, Truth & Liberty Coalition president, and Richard Harris, executive director.

Staver, a longtime attorney and minister of the Gospel, will receive the Samuel Adams Award for Courageous Christian Leadership for his trailblazing work defending religious liberty. From landmark First Amendment cases to defending servicepeople from unconstitutional vaccine mandates, Liberty Counsel has helped countless individuals and organizations through the years at no cost to the clients. In 2020, Staver and Liberty Counsel came alongside Andrew Wommack Ministries in the successful fight to preserve their First Amendment rights to assembly and religious liberty.

Phillips, a Colorado-based cake artist, will receive the Samuel Whittemore Award for Heroic Christian Citizenship for his bravery in standing for biblical truth and righteousness. Despite pressure from lawsuits and the mainstream media, Phillips refused to betray his belief in the biblical definition of marriage. Phillips’s case went all the way to the Supreme Court after he declined to design a cake celebrating a homosexual wedding, resulting in a victory for religious liberty. While LGBT activists and state officials continue to persecute Phillips, he is still standing strong and serving God in the marketplace.

Dinesh D'Souza will be the Keynote speaker for the evening. Dinesh D’Souza is a bestselling author and award-winning filmmaker. His political documentaries “2016: Obama’s America” and “America: Imagine a World Without Her” are among the highest-grossing political films of all time. An immigrant who grew up in Mumbai, India, Dinesh came to the United States in 1978 as an exchange student. He attended Dartmouth College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. He was a domestic policy analyst at the Reagan White House, and a scholar at think tanks such as the American Enterprise Institute and the Hoover Institution at Stanford. He teamed up with his wife Debbie to produce a daily podcast which debuted January of 2021 and is part of the Salem Podcast Network. In May of 2022, D’Souza media teamed up with True the Vote to bring to light the most important movie in America called 2000 Mules. It was released the first week of May 2022 and became a huge blockbuster. Dinesh has written over 25 books and made six movies. His latest book “2000 Mules” based on the movie, was released the fall of 2022. Dinesh and Debbie live in the Lonestar State and have a blended family of three grown children.
