The Uniden 980 SSB. A great Modern SSB CB Radio.

Well... I finally did it. I have "Lusted" after one of these radios since they first came out in 2014. I always hoped someday I'd see one sitting at a yard sale or at a flea market, but they just never show up. I finally sold some of the HAM gear I picked up this spring to fix and flip and as a result I felt I had made enough to finally go ahead and get one of these radios.
I found one still in the box on eBay and got it.

I am VERY impressed with this radio. The receive is MUCH better then my old trusty Uniden Grant LT. It pulls in some really distant signals especially on SSB mode and is also shaping up to be a great talker.
I've already talked with Canada, and at least 6 states. The scan feature is great for when the skip is not rolling and I want to pick up on local chats.
The tower project is finally started and I hope to have it up by mid-week so that this Sunday's live chat can include some Skip talking on this new setup.
