Dr. Doug Weiss, licensed psychologist and author, did a research project involving 140 women who have experienced infidelity, intimacy anorexia, or sex addiction from their spouse. There are many results to be discussed as to the impact on you as a partner.

For example, Partner Betrayal Trauma can cause post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in your life. This is different than normal PTSD because it wasn't created by a physical, traumatic event in your life. It was created by the emotional, spiritual, social, physical, sexual, and financial betrayal aspect ​of the partner betrayal trauma.

This type of PTSD still has the same impact on your life. You can have flashbacks, triggering moments, anxiety, fear, avoidance, and other symptoms. All of these symptoms are not from "generalized trauma." They are specifically related to your partner betrayal trauma.
